Bach. Lim. Fraure. Mendelssohn. Roebuck. Bartok. KR> You could always wait for Optus local to start hanging phone lines KR> from your power lines and change over to them. They also run an KR> Internet gateway. ML> According to the latest PC Week, the Optus broadband service is an ML> additional $100 per month not including the lease/purchase of the ML> cable modem. The cable TV service is $40 per month. They hope to ML> bring the broadband cost down to $40 which I think is the critical ML> price point. I phoned Optus about a week ago to find out about their Internet gateway. At the time, they did not have any prices decided. They were contenmplating how they could price their system competetively enough to encourage users to change over without damaging existing ISPs. They're going to have to bring the prices down eventually to compete with Tel$tra's upcoming services. (Now we know why Tel$tra are planning to time charge people using data device on the telephone network: to encourage people to change over to their system. They seem to think that if you have a modem, you use the Internet.) * AmyBW v2.11 * ...
