However in the OJ case you living 3000 miles from LA must be unaware of the factors that led to his acquittal. I'd like to say first that more than likely he did it, however the jury found the only way it could ethically do so. There's an excess of 60 years of police brutality towards people of color (not *JUST* blacks). I'm pretty sure that Driving while black started in LA. Has any other police department in the country been investigated by the FBI and kept under supervision of the FBI for over a decade? LAPD was on both counts. The LAPD has a history of planting drugs and other things on people of color. During WWII in what became known as the "Zoot Suit Riots" sailors stationed in LA took exception to the Chicanos attire, apparently they didn't like the fact that these suits (which were really stylish in their day) used far more material than a regular suit would. The sailors spent two days beating the hell out of any Latino they encountered and the police just sat and watched. For more instances of police unequal treatment of people of color goggle "Sleepy Lagoon murder mystery". Going even farther back then that in the 1880s after the US Congress passed the Chinese Exclusionary acts some Irish guys in LA took exception to the tiny little Chinatown LA used to have and rampaged through murdering men women and children. Again the police did nothing to stop the whites. The point of all this is that the prosecution did a sh*tty job building their case with a police department known all over the country as corrupt and willing to plant evidence to get a conviction against people of color. Sorry, that turned into something of a rant there didn't it? :) -- L'Chaim, Mimi fcpnmimi(at)cox.net "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." - Friedrich Nietzsche --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 (Windows/20080421)* Origin: The Eastern Star - Fidonet Via Your Newsreader (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 140/1 226/0 236/150 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
