Dropping resistor? Didn't use one. I just put several in series to get the 
resistance up and had not problems. I never even measure the current.

Mine actually had 3 AA batteries, as the voltage required to light it was a 
little over 3 volts. 2 wouldn't light it, 3 did. But I've heard there are 
LEDs that don't require near as much voltage, and thought a single AA would 
suffice. I've never been able to find any of these locally, but I'm sure in 
mail order, etc..., they are probly all over the place.

Just use an extrusion process to make vinyl baseboards with the wiring for 
them inside, and "sockets" for the LEDs.
