| subject: | digital tv.. soon! |
It's probably a good thing that I held off on purchasing an external atsc tuner to support my old crt tv. The tv has started to "bleed" colour on the horizonal. It's not heavily pronounced but when there is a really bright element on the scene, the whole area across the tv will be lighter. The same thing happens with really dark elements.. the whole area across will be darker. This result makes watching "perfect" DVDs pitiful. So.. it looks like I will need to dive in for a digital tv VERY shortly. Meanwhile, I am really ticked off at the reduced screen area when having to select a new widescreen tv. Coming from being accustomed to 4:3, a 30" tv provides about 18" on the vertical scale. A 30" widescreen only has a 15" viewing height. I have to purchase at least a 32" if I want to maintain the 18" height that I like. Widescreen on my existing 30" 4:3 is reduced to 14"! Not sure how I will be able to incorporate my existing hdd/dvd tv tuner/recorder into the mix. It has S-video Out, and component video output/input. What solutions are any of you using to record tv when the tv has the tuner built in? Much like in the days of VHS we would bypass the tv's tuner and use the recorder's tuner. --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228)* Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
