Is there anyone who can help me with this???

I have a dynalink 14400 internal modem, and no matter what I put in
the init string (X4 etc) I can't get the bloody thing to recognise a
busy signal, I also do not actually hear the dialtone either, but the
modem seems to think that it can hear one...
