Hi Vicki,
RH> I bought a bunch of different colors last year when
VO> If I ever see a deal on them, I'd proably do the same thing.
Are you on the mailing list for the store flyers? Even though I live a
ways away from the store, I get the flyer. That way I know when things
are going on sale; sometimes I've given money and a list to someone
going to Tucson and asked that they grab someting on sale for me.
RH> Remember the old Alka-Seltzer ads, "try it, you'll
RH> like it?" Same thing
VO> I'm hoping to. Just gotta get to the store.
I know the feeling. We're hoping to get the rest of the wedding stuff
(for the dresses and the veil) next week.
RH> Most likely. Do you have your machine in a permanent set up? If so,
VO> Yes, I do. Kind of. Not sure, but probably will keep it the way
VO> it is. I've got a crafting room all to myself, and still haven't
VO> really organized it. (It's been 3 years now)
Well, get organised! (G) With some things, organisation is the only way
I can keep track of what I'm doing. But, as long as you are in a
permanent location, I suppose you can putz around till you feel ready.
RH> Shelley Rodgers posted several years ago about how she just screwed a
RH> cup hook into the wall and ran the thread thru that as an adapter.
VO> I thought about that, but someone else told me that it didn't work
VO> that well.
All right, I wasn't aware of that. I sort of tuned out that one since I
had the adapter long before I got on Fido.
VO> That's hopefully my next big purchase..a serger. But I still
VO> can't quite justify the cost to myself.
If you do lots of sewing, it is worth the cost. I wasn't sure I could
justify it at first but sure am glad I have it now! I think I still
have the print out of what somebody wrote on here several years ago on
what to look for in a serger.
RH> Yes, especially when you're "that" close to being done and run out of
RH> thread on the bobbin. I hate to wind a bobbin for 6" of sewing.
VO> What? Were you watching me? That's exactly what happened to me,
VO> and boy was I frustrated.
It comes from being a sewer also. If you have a bobbin of a color that
is close, you can go ahead and use that. I also keep a bobbin of the
invisible nylon thread on hand for projects when I don't want to wind a
bobbin of the color I'm using--if it's an odd color and I'm not using
too much of it, that's a very handy thing to keep in mind.
Catch you later,
Ruth
