 No, it is not. Do you think the employee's pay is not included
 in the price of the product? The employee's pay comes out of the
 producer's price, so his social security tax does also. That all
 goes on before it even leaves the factory, or farm, or where
 ever it's produced.

 Reread Jeff Binkley's screeds on a federal sales tax. The idea
 they are offering is that with a sales tax the tax is right up
 front, you know what you are paying. You can't hide it because
 the customer pays it right there, added on to the cost right in
 front of him.

 With a VAT, the tax the customer pays is the entire cost of the
 VAT. If the VAT is 10%, then the entire VAT from raw materials
 to finished sale is 10%.
