subject: USR Courier with AMD FlashROM

No need for anyone to open the case. just get your dealer to flash

the modem with the 4/29 code in front of you (if it is the US/canada

domestic model). If it accepts this then you have no worries, there is not an

equivelent code to the 4/29 US code, made for the Australian model

yet, so you are not going to find out if you have a good Aust model modem or

not, this way, until there is Australian code released.)

And you can't tell, by just looking at the chip really, be it AMD or

Intel.

If it does not accept the larger code, then your dealer has made himself a

doorstop,(which is HIS problem) and you don't need to buy that one.

It is still not YOUR problem, if you leave the dealer sitting in

the middle of the floor amonst 40 or 50 dud modems after you got him to

flash them all, infront of you...just to find the one good one for you to buy.

This is his punishment for not wanting to open one infront of you.

The dealer that does not want to open the modem infront of you, either does

not have the interest of the customer at heart, or does not know what

he is doing, and therefore should not be selling these modems.

it is really in his OWN interest to find out if he is selling

doorstops or Couriers.

In fact, You can not tell a good AMD chip from a Bad one UNTIL you

flash it. So even if you open the case and see an AMD chip...

you could still have a good one. But if you have an INTEL chip,

You KNOW it will work (SO FAR)

The Intel chips can just as easily have the same problem, if theey go

out unchecked. but so far they have better people at quality control.
