I was promised the 7.8 firmware with 33600 bps support. Instead I received
the 7.7 firmware with a maximum data signalling rate of 28800 bps and the
same dial detection problems as before. The main printed circuit board is
copyrighted 1995, compared with 1992 for the old modem, although there are
not many internal differences.

I'll be writing to Rex Christensen of AUSTEL about it with copies to
various people at Motorola. If one buys such a product with a 2 year
warranty, I expect the supplier to provide updates as bugs are sorted out
and V.34 (1996) gets ratified.

Needless to say I'm unhappy about the situation.

PL> I assume these are 33.6k capable; who sells them, and how much?

Not sure about the 33600 bps support. Scitec and General DataComm
respectively, who have offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

PL> BTW, do you know if the price of the Motorola has been reduced?

Not that I know of.
