| subject: | Ellcon modems, 2400 or 14000??? |
Hello, We use Ellcon ARN 28,800 external modems with our BBS. They are very ¨flash and good to us. But we have trouble with few people and other BBS's ¨with these modems. Sometimes when someone calls our BBS with a 14400 modem, they only get 2400, ¨no matter how much they try and try again... But others get perfect results. ¨ Some people, well most people, who use Dyanlink 28800 modems who call our ¨BBS have alot of trouble with speed, and errors. Like while they are on, t ¨here are pauses, and also they sometimes never get 28,800 but appart from that, our Ellcon modems are great, but when I compare these ¨modems to the trouble other sysops have had, well it makes me sick to think ¨we bought Ellcon ones, and how expensive they were anyway! We have another ¨modem which is an External Supra 14400 plus.. which is very good, and have ¨never had trouble with it... Oh and another problem we have had is sometimes we call a BBS and we never ¨get through, the modem just keeps making a carrier detect sound, and then ¨makes some fuzzy noises, then restarts again making a carrier detect sound ¨again.. This is also happening to a person who has a 33.6 modem who trys to ¨call our BBS.. They have only got through once before, and have tried many ¨many weeks.. Ok well if any of you know what could be wrong.. please get back.. We use standard INI strings, just the usual factory deaftuls ok see ya --- FMail/386 1.02* Origin: The Dungeon BBS - Levin NZ, 64 6 368-187-2 3 (3:771/530.1) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 SEEN-BY: 711/932 934 712/311 407 505 506 515 517 624 628 704 816 824 841 852 SEEN-BY: 713/888 714/906 771/160 200 300 320 530 580 1120 1390 1530 1580 SEEN-BY: 772/1 20 135 205 380 460 774/605 776/300 800/1 @PATH: 771/530 320 160 772/20 712/624 515 711/808 934 |
