Hi Jean,
I am really a Silver Xpress user so a BW user may have some
better ideas. But here are some things to try.
For me BW creates TECHNDRM.NEW as the REP archive. This file
contains TECHNDRM.UPI, TECHNDRM.UPL and *.N. It looks like * is
the name of the message area and N is number of message that you
created in this area. I.e. .001 for the first message .002 for the
second etc. In SX the number is the message area number but I
don't think that is the case in BW. There is a *.N file for each
message that you entered via your editor. When I replied to a
message in the PRIV message area *.N consisted of Priv.001.
Have you determined what is grunged? The archive or a file
inside the archive? If PKUNZIP -t TECHNDRM.NEW (assuming you
configured zip as your archive type) passes, the archive is okay.
If not you might try switching archivers. The *.N files seem to
just be text files of your messages. Do they look okay when viewed
via PKZIP? As the UPI and UPL files are mostly binary you are not
going to be able to tell much by looking at them. They look to be
message header information.
I normally call the reader via a batch file. I have the batch
copy the u/l and d/l packet to a spare directory. If you do this
you can look at the copy of the u/l packet to see if it is okay
when you encounter a grunged rep packet. If it is okay then it has
to be grunged on the board's end or during the u/l. Then you might
try u/ling the copy. Have you tried a different u/l protocol?
You might try creating the u/l packet yourself before you leave
the reader. Create an archive that includes the following files in
the work directory: *.UPI, *.UPL, *.REP and *.00?. If you create
more than nine message is one area change the *.00? to *.0??. Of
course the archive should be on some non-BW directory. Then u/l
this archive.
Well, I am about out of ideas for now.
Good luck,
Charles
