RW> JC> We had a vote on a mailing list on which one I should focus on, and RW> JC> won. RW> RW> So just curious -- what are/were the features of v2? There isn't all that much of difference - the majority of it has been moved into 1.10 at this point. At the time it had new configuration editors, revamped menu system, revamped MPL, FTP/POP3/SMTP servers, etc, all of which as you know are in 1.10 now. :) These days the real difference is the backend. Mystic V1 spawns a new process for each telnet session (only telnet, ftp/pop/smtp/binkp/etc are all same process) whereas V2 managed telnet sessions within itself. People liked the idea of having the option to spawn node windows when someone connects, allowing Sysops to interact with the user similar to the old DOS BBS days. The V1 way also allows better integration with 3rd party servers and daemons. V2 was just a more modern approach and was faster/more portable because of it. At the end of the day though, I went with the vote and decided to basically combine them all into the same thing and call it 1.10. --- Mystic BBS v1.10 A37 (Windows)* Origin: Sector 7 [Mystic BBS WHQ] (1:129/215) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 101 620 848 @PATH: 129/215 154/10 123/500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
