You have to excuse Me also because I got Your message yesterday but just
now answering it.

EV> Yesterday when I started up this XP pc, after I Logged On to the

Before I saw that screen I:

O.K.

and finally

My DSL Modem connects to my service.
HG> After abt 3 seconds the machine asks for the HD password + enter.

That is faster than any Windows computer I have used.
The Commodore 64 comes up in half a second.
HG> Now comes the screen asking for the Windows pwrd or PIN code. After

HG> That's it.
EV> Patience...........
HG> Yeah, as I said previously, you missed the train, while Win10 was a
HG> free upgrade to machines with Win7 or later. I couldn't resist the fre
HG> offer, so I bought a second hand Win7 machine and got it upgraded to
HG> Win10.
For all I know the WIN TEN Telemetry situation may be affecting this XP
machine without me knowing of it.
MS does what they want to do with their Code, I just use it.
I don't like being on the "Bleeding Edge" as You know with my older
messages about my experiences with Win3.1 in 1994 , Win95 in 1998 ,
Win98SE around 2000 , WinXP in 2006 and WinVista .
HG> That was after my first experience of Win10pro in the laptop I received
HG> for XMAS from my GS.
HG> NOTE: I have a HD/BIOS password set on all my machines. Nobody carring
HG> away any of my machines will have any use of what's in them, since the
HG> pwrd protects both the HD and BIOS.
I remember Jean Parrot mentioning setting a HD BIOS password on Notebook pcs.
I might have done that to the Vista notebook, I can't remember now.
It's a good idea though.
