JS>VH>This is a worthwhile improvement -- using a set screw, either through
JS>VH>the trigger blade (as in some M1911A1 accuracy jobs) or through the
JS>VH>back of the of the trigger guard is a good idea.
JS>VH>People tend to put a lot of money into the 10/22 (Why? Because they
JS>VH>CAN! :-)) I'd put my money into a good trigger job, which, as you
JS>VH>point out, is cheap. You can do it yourself, for just the cost of
JS>VH>springs and a little polishing.
JS>I let a smith do it, and despite my request not to, he dropped the
JS>trigger down to about 2#. I've thanked him ever since. :-)
JS>Everything else I've done myself.
Maybe you're not the guy to ask -- since you've sunk a lot of effort in
your 10/22 -- but answer me honestly: Which goodies and modifications
would you pick, and in which order, if you wanted accuracy at a low
cost?
JS>VH>I'd also get a good scope.
JS>I have a bushnell sportview on it now. It's coming off, it just does not
JS>hold up like it should. I thinking of a Simmons next.
Some swear by Simmons, some swear at them. I don't have any experience
with them.
JS>VH>Then I'd start shooting -- only when I was convinced I could shoot
JS>VH>better than the rifle would I start rebarelling.
JS>Yes, I've got several bricks of Super-x waiting to be converted into
JS>brass only. :-)
I watch the ads -- in Shotgun News and in the local paper. When I see
them selling .22s for under $1.00 a box, I buy a case.
I have had people yap at me about that "cheap ammo" but I can't shoot
offhand any better than that cheap ammo will shoot -- and I do 99.9% of
my shooting from offhand.
