Yes they are pretty hopeless but believe it or not I got an admission from one of the tech staff that it appeared there was some incompatability between the Dynalink V34+ and the modem on a BBS I was trying to connect to. They tried as well without success but had no trouble with the older Dynalink 28800. The BBS turned out to have a Netcom V34 Roadster.
