>AB> yes I agree with you as i upgraded my netcomm m34f here which is >AB> on my internet line and my isp has banskia 33.6k modems on his >AB> end and my netcomm just won't have a bar of them any higher than >AB> 28800 and i need to physically lock the baud rate to 28800 to >AB> acheive that, Although only anecdotal, I too have a friend with a Netcomm Roadster which seems poorly compatible with many BBS. Its not the line as my Spirit Viper punches thru with a 28.8 connect every time at his place. Similarly, his modem sucks at my place. This is despite 2 returns to Netcomm service. The sad thing is that I advised him to get the Roadster based on anecdotal evidence as well. > Have you ever considered your phone lines may not be up to the task > of > 33k6, the fact that you have to lock you modem to 28k8 to force it > to > connect at that speed makes it seem like the problem. You may be suffering from that common technician malady of "user is always wrong and must be a moron" ... he might be, but don't assume it. One assumes (hopes) that Andrew is citing a reproducible case of Netcomm-Banksia incompatibility that doesn't occur with connects to other modems. If not ... then he is a moron ! dave --- FLAME v1.1* Origin: 500cc: NSW's Largest BBS & $2/Hr Internet (02)9557-0077 (3:712/218) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 SEEN-BY: 711/932 934 712/60 218 311 393 401 404 406 407 446 505 506 515 517 SEEN-BY: 712/610 624 628 704 816 824 841 846 852 713/888 714/906 772/20 800/1 @PATH: 712/218 311 624 515 711/808 934 |
