Quite right, that's the alternative to using the old fashioned Program~1

I've just tried that. Got exactly the same, Multimail tries to call the editor
and then invites me to cancel the reply.

Tried that too, putting %1 both inside and outside the quotes. 
Same lack of success.

Tried that, equally with and without %1. 
Still got nowhere. 

It's a bit frusrating, really, as Textpad works really well with any other
application that can use an external editor. 

I'm hoping that one of the Multimail gurus reads this and can put their finger
on it immediately.
