it is actually better to add more memory than it is to increase the swap
file... memory is much much faster than spinning rust...

firefox has a means to report its crashes... have you been allowing those
reports to be sent to them for analysis? are you running the latest
version? it may be time to let that old OS go since it is no longer
supported and more programs that might have operated on it are also no
longer supported in that environment...
