What stage of testing and figuring are you at? I have found that for gross
figure errors, i.e. turned edge, holes and hills, the temperature
differential does not matter much.
For Aspherical figuring or fine spherical adjustment, then you need
equilibrium, and it is right that the temperature does not matter, it's the
changing temp. If your shop temp is not much different than the testing
temp, try some comparison measurements as it cools down to assess if it
will give you trouble. Save the final long cooling times for the final
figure.

Subject: ATM mirror cool down problem
Hi All
My problem is that the temperature here has been in the range of 45 degrees
(113 F) at its highest so after each correction spell I have to wait till
the next morning for any serious testing. Is there anything that I could do
for this ?
Thanks
Aditya Munshi
