Baikonur Launch Site. Transport cargo vehicle Progress M-47 is launched into the low earth orbit. The launch was performed in accordance with the Russian party responsibilities under the International Space Station Project and its Flight Program. Launch goal - delivery of cargoes required to support functioning of the orbit system and provide living and operational conditions for the crew. The Soyuz-U LV with the cargo vehicle was launched at 15:59:40, Moscow time. There are 870 kg of propellants for the station, 50 kg of oxygen and 70 kg of potable water in the refueling system compartment onboard the vehicle; its cargo compartment contains - 1328 kg of dry cargoes, including the hardware and equipment for the station onboard systems supporting its thermal mode, power supply, onboard measurements, motion and onboard instrumentation control and also equipment for maintenance and repair, gas environment maintenance, fire-extinguishing and safety gears, medical, health support and water supply, food, onboard documentation, video- and photo-equipment, parcels for the crew members, structural elements, equipment and materials to conduct the experiments in space, including Payloads for USOS, ESA and NASDA activities. The Propulsion System tanks are filled with 880 kg of propellants. The space vehicle is launched into the orbit with maximum height of 258,7 km, minimum height of 193,3 km, orbital period of 88,72 min. and inclination of 51.670. The onboard systems of the space vehicle function in design conditions. The docking of the space vehicle to the ISS is scheduled for February 4, 2003, at 17:50, to the Zvezda module axial docking port. On February 1, 2003, the Progress M1-9 was undocked from this port and transferred to the descending trajectory and withdrawal from the orbit into a calculated point of the world ocean area. The processing of the Progress M-47 space vehicle for launch was carried out headed by Yu.P. Semenov, Technical Manager of the Russian Manned Programs, Designer General of S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, Academician of RAS. The processing of the space vehicle at Baikonur launch site and the launch were headed by N.F. Moiseev (Co-chairman of State Commission, State Secretary, First Deputy Director of Rosaviakosmos), V.A. Grin (Co-chairman of the State Commission, Deputy Director of Machinery TsNII) and Yu.P. Semenov, Academician of RAS. The main real time control team controls the flight of space vehicle and ISS RS in the Mission Control Center (MCC-M), Korolev, Moscow Area. Flight Manager - V.A. Soloviev, pilot-cosmonaut, S.P. Korolev RSC Energia.. The ISS orbital system functions in the orbit with the following parameters: maximal height of 408,5 km, minimum height of 385,2 km. The system comprises: Zarya Functional Cargo Unit (FGB), Zvezda Service Module, Pirs Docking Module, Soyuz TMA-1 transport manned vehicle and also modules Unity, Destiny and Quest Air-lock. Its total weight is about 173,5 t. According to TMI and reports from the sixth main crew (ISS-6) including: Kenneth Bawersocks (Commander, USA, NASA), Nikolay Budarin (onboard engineer, Russia, RSC Energia), Donald Pettit (onboard engineering, USA, NASA), each onboard system of the orbital complex function in design conditions. The complex is ready for docking to the Progress M-47 vehicle. - End of File - ================ ---* Origin: SpaceBase[tm] Vancouver Canada [3 Lines] 604-473-9357 (1:153/719) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 153/719 715 7715 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
