Hi Maurice!

RM>> LATIN-1 is an alias for ISO 8859-1.
MK> Wrong. LATIN1 is an alias for ISO 8859-1, amongst other aliases none
MK> of which are LATIN-1.
The fact that it is not mentioned as a gconv-module does not make my statement
wrong for Fidonet.
Take a look at FTS5003 http://ftsc.org/docs/fts-5003.001
"Level 2 character sets (eight-bit, ASCII based) LATIN-1 ISO 8859-1
(Western European)"
As of why it was named LATIN-1 instead of LATIN1 I do not know.
But it makes it absolutely clear what LATIN-1 means in the context of Fidonet.
MK> The above can be verified by iana.org
The above can be verified for the Fidonet context on ftsc.org
