Hallo Richard!
RM> LATIN-1 is an alias for ISO 8859-1.
Wrong. LATIN1 is an alias for ISO 8859-1, amongst other aliases none of which
are LATIN-1.
-={ grep ISO-8859-1// /usr/lib/gconv/gconv-modules }=-
alias ISO-IR-100// ISO-8859-1//
alias ISO_8859-1:1987// ISO-8859-1//
alias ISO_8859-1// ISO-8859-1//
alias ISO8859-1// ISO-8859-1//
alias ISO88591// ISO-8859-1//
alias LATIN1// ISO-8859-1//
alias L1// ISO-8859-1//
alias IBM819// ISO-8859-1//
alias CP819// ISO-8859-1//
alias CSISOLATIN1// ISO-8859-1//
alias 8859_1// ISO-8859-1//
alias OSF00010001// ISO-8859-1//
module ISO-8859-1// INTERNAL ISO8859-1 1
module INTERNAL ISO-8859-1// ISO8859-1 1
The above can be verified by iana.org, and if you search their data base for
LATIN-1 will show it doesn't exist. The closest I can find at iana.org are
ISO-8859-1-Windows-3.0-Latin-1 (alias csWindows30Latin1) and
ISO-8859-1-Windows-3.1-Latin-1 (alias csWindows31Latin1). I did find some
unofficial claims that LATIN-1 is an alias fo CP1252 but those cannot be
verified by any credible reference.
-={ grep CP1252// /usr/lib/gconv/gconv-modules }=-
alias MS-ANSI// CP1252//
alias WINDOWS-1252// CP1252//
module CP1252// INTERNAL CP1252 1
module INTERNAL CP1252// CP1252 1
iana.org lists it as windows-1252 with only one alias cswindows1252. No
mention of LATIN-1 as an alias of anything, nevermind ISO 8859-1.
Het leven is goed,
Maurice
