Wondered about that.  The on-base price at the Offutt AFB exchange service
station is about ten cents *higher* than the price at Casey's (a convenience
store chain) in Malvern, IA, which is about 25 miles away as the roads go.
It's about the same as stations in Nebraska, though.

I haven't been in the main exchange at Offutt in decades.  There wasn't anything
in it that I needed then and I'm sure there isn't now.  Come to think of it, I don't
think I've been in either of the branch exchange/convenience stores in a couple of
decades, either.  Offutt just built a humongous new exchange mall complex that I'll
probably never set foot in, it opened a couple of months ago.

FWIW I haven't been in Offutt's commissary since 1977, when it was brand new.
It's not worth the trip.  The old one was in a building that was originally a stable
for the 7th Cavalry's horses (the commissary moved out of it on a Friday
and by Monday afternoon it was rubble, to keep it from being declared a
national historic monument
(like the remaining original Fort Crook - Offutt's original name - buildings are).
