every once in a while i have similar with BAT files that are executed in
another session via "start"... is that CMD just basically a BAT
file or is it REXX?

wow... i haven't had to do that yet... not as far as i know, anyway...
there have been a few times that i've had a stuck window and i've found
that closing another one allowed that one to carry on but i forget the
details on those... whatever it was, i figured out the problem and handled
it...

i remember some basic programs that also didn't but they did in their init
code... it was quite the shock to find that... on the com port access,
though, i've used SIO for so long and i've always had the com port sharing
mode enabled... especially for using PMLM ;) O:)
