Because like most theists he stupidly can't tell the difference between....

"not believing in something irrelevant that is merely part of somebody
else's religion" and...

"believing something supremely important and self-evident doesn't exist".

Like most of them he is incapable of grasping that outside his religion it
is a belief, not what he thinks it is inside it.

And instead of sensibly keeping quiet about it, he proclaims his stupidity
to the world.
