| subject: | Modem speed |
Hi Everyone, I have a Netcomm Roadster 288 which has the 33.6Kbps sticker on it. This I assume it works as a 33.6K modem. Just to verify with anyone out there that has a 33.6K modem: assuming the connection is at 33.6K and the line is fairly free of noise, what speed should the data transfer be for a 1 Meg Zip file using Z-modem through a BBS be? At the moment I get the speed of around 3200 cps + or - 100 cps on most days when I download files from BBS using Z-modem on Q-modem pro for Win 95. Is this a fairly alright speed or is my modem a fake 33.6K fax modem?? Thanks for any info. --- FLAME v1.1* Origin: 500cc: NSW's Largest BBS & $2/Hr Internet (02)9557-0077 (3:712/218) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 SEEN-BY: 711/932 934 712/60 218 311 393 401 404 406 407 446 505 506 515 517 SEEN-BY: 712/610 624 628 704 816 824 841 846 852 713/888 714/906 772/20 800/1 @PATH: 712/218 311 624 515 711/808 934 |
