| subject: | Re: ATM ? Motorized Chair for binoculars? |
To: Vladimir Galogaza , ATM shore From: Tim Rickard Reply-To: Tim Rickard Perhaps combine the office chair with a pivoting headrest attached to a virtual counterbalance spring just as in a Dobsonian design. Your head weight would be exactly countered as you move your head back for a higher angle, relieving muscle stress. The binoculars could even be mounted to the headrest so they would stay in constant position relative to head, freeing your hands and virtually eliminating jitter. This would require a weight counterbalance I suppose, which might complicate things (wouldn't want to fall over backward!). Would need to be designed with quality parts but could be really nice. possible improvements: slow mo hand control to supplement feet drive system (if needed), slight tilt ability on binoculars to fine tune alt. position (if needed), ability to slide binos slightly closer to or further from your eyes, using rack and pinion or such. just a thought.
