 The Magellen GPS 3000 costs about 250 -300 dollars and is a pretty nice
unit. Pretty accurate as I used it to run the intercoastal up here in NJ
on Barnegat Bay in some pretty nasty fogs as well as night time runs, in
some spots of the bay it's a pretty narrow channel with plenty of course
changes and this updated legs of a route 100% quicker than Loran.
 The Garmin Maplot 220 is a color LCD display that will show land
features, channels, channel markers, fishing areas, fuel areas etc if
you have the chip for the area you are in. This setup was about $1600
and again is very much worth the money. This puppy does it all. If you
