The term African American, is just a attempt to be politically correct by
using a feel good term.

The majority of blacks in the country are as far removed from Africa as
most whites are from Europe, yet we dont hear the term European American,
do we?

More to the point, the term African American, is used to avoid using terms
such as but not limited to:

black(s)
Colored

etc..
