Maybe up where you are.  Down here, it's blacks (since they are the
majority) and other minorities (besides Caucasian, i.e. Mexicans).

I once asked a black friend about the difference between "nigger"

I took that at face value.

Oh sure...that's something I've seen too.  What they do to get the food
stamps is dress like hobos and park two blocks down from the food stamp
office in their Lexus SUV...

Like how Spanish people get insulted if you call them Mexican.  Spanish
people, for the majority, are just as white, blond-haired and blue-eyed as
any "mom and apple pie" American, yet they're full-blooded
Spanish.  Mexicans have Indian in them for the dark skin, dark eyes and how
all of them are under 5'5" unless they have something else in them.

The ones I have to deal with are.  The majority of them, I should say.  We
have a black electrical engineer at my work.  He's in his late 50s, has a
nice home, a lovely wife who's some sort of advanced nurse and two very
nice daughters.  They all work hard, stay out of trouble and are valued
members of the community.  In fact, I don't even see him as black, I see
him for who he is: our electrical engineer and a friend.

As for the stereotype, explain my last set of neighbors: unwed young black
mother, three kids in a two-room apartment.  She went through guys like we
go through water.  She received not one, but TWO eviction notices before
she left.  It's been very nice in our building since she left...no more
ghettoblasting bass at 2 AM, no kids screaming and yelling, no more of our
kitchen smelling like marijuana, no more cops coming over for domestic
violence calls...

And, for the kicker-I saw the apartment building across from ours on a
local news channel the other day (specifically, Channel 2 [ABC] News here
in Atlanta).  Why?  Because some young black male who'd rather be smoking
weed than being a father decided to shake his 6 month old daughter to
death.

But I will say this place is much, much better than it was; we used to have
murders every so often, but a large apartment management corporation bought
the place from the previous owners.  They cleaned it up, fixed it up and
started enforcing rules.  It's fairly quiet now, but we're just here to
save money.  We don't want to buy a house right now because my work and
schooling situations are both rather fluid.

So the stereotype is not as outdated as you may think, Ross.  It just may
not apply to where you're at.  If you come live where I am, that's the norm
rather than the exception.

Oh, yes, of course...that's a given...but look at both Sharpton and
Jackson.  Ol' Jesse can't keep it in his pants and Al's getting poked at

That's quite common around here, but we've got an assload of wiggers
running around here and to me, they're even more despicable than the real
thing.

Not as common here, but you go about 25 miles due east into Atlanta on
I-20, that's where you need to stay away from.
