I don't think you should have done that. A) Firfly lasted exactly 11
episodes (2 went un-shown) and B) it's *your* story, your spin and your
interpretation will give it a whole new spin.
After all ST-OM wouldn't have been written if I bauiled out when I
discovered that voyager was doing essentially the same plot.
James mentioned how coincidental this was, himself and then pointedly
reminded me how they had a Vulcan Chief of Security which was an element
he'd invented for the Shadowstar.
Don't sweat what any one else does. Just do what you do and do it the best you can.
I think the elements that have made it from the stories I was going to
writ= e will work better as background to the Academy stories. For example,
the c= haracter Serendipity from the Academy stories was originally going
to be a = minor character. She grew beyond that and was inserted into the
Academy sto= ries.=20
At the moment the only major problem I'm having is that after writing and
(= at present) re-writing the first Academy story I've got lots of ideas
for o= ther stories (namely the second, third and fourth Academy stories as
well a= s some other Trek-related stuff and a completely unconnected set of
Doctor = Who-based stories for a different group). At the moment I'm
writing the Aca= demy stories as one long story and will eventually cut it
up into more mana= geable chunks.
I will probably post something, either the first amended part of the
Academ= y story or the first part of the story on my hard-drive which is
temporaril= y named Project X (because I can't settle on a name for the
ship in it, the=
first idea was scrapped because I figured a fair number of sci-fi fans wou=
ld lynch me if I used it) within the next week.
So many ideas, so little time.
