Well, there are some (and some men as well) that are what my MIL called
"nasty-neat" housekeepers... But perhaps some that you work with are
just trying to keep up appearances... :)

I gave up on trying to keep up a long time ago, though. I teach piano
in my home, and usually manage to keep the area around the piano clear,
and the piano accessible for lessons (as well as for my own practice).
After a while, part of my initial interview with prospective students or
their parents, included a disclaimer about the state of my house, and
suggested that if a messy house was going to bother them, then I wasn't
the right teacher for them. Never had a student/parent back out at that
point, though... I usually got a "You haven't seen the state of MY
house!" remark back, too... :)

One parent made my day, though, when I had occasion to feel I should
apologize to her for the state of my house and did so, by replying, "But
I don't pay you for the state of your house, but for teaching my kids
piano, and that you do excellently!" :) I think she went on to say
something about priorities being in the right place... :)
