WH> experiencing the same problem, that is, the computer quite often WH> hangs for a while when I am on a BBS. If I keep typing during these WH> pauses", when the system "un-pauses", everything I have typed in WH> appears on the screen. I am using a 33.6 internal dynaink WH> fax/modem, but the highest i have ever connected at is 28800. Are WH> these problems related? Is Telix for Windows a better program than WH> QmodemPro? WH> Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated. RA> I am having users tell me that they are seeing similar RA> faults, except I am running pure DOS with a Dynalink RA> 28.8, and the user has a Netcomm & windows95.. hmmm do RA> you think 95 is *that* invasive??? RA> Cheers, I had a similar problem with one of my Dynalink v34+ modems so I took it back and got it replaced, the next one just wouldn't download anything, it uploaded ok and text seemed ok I could type for hours with friends and not see any errors, so I took it back and got a third modem now I seem to have a modem that just doesn't like being on line for very long, it has a habit of disconnecting at the most inoportune moment. From what I have read in various echos it seems that there is a bug in the ROM which was supplied by US Robotics for the Dynalink V34+ modems, it is supposed to have something to do with the data compression, but it doesn't seem to make any difference wether I disable data compression or not. I have tried DOS, WIN3.11, and OS/2. all with roughly similar results. As it now seems to be impossible to get through to a live person at Askey to complain about the modems I am going to have to keep pestering my supplier until he is able to get a reasonable answer from Askey and supply me with a bug free modem. I now wish I had kept my old 14400 modem as it seemed much more reliable and not much slower when connected to the Internet.:( l8r David --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: madHouse Inc (3:640/820) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 625/100 640/201 206 230 305 702 820 821 822 SEEN-BY: 640/823 829 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 932 934 712/515 SEEN-BY: 713/888 714/906 800/1 @PATH: 640/820 711/409 808 934 |
