 RA> Cheers,
I had a similar problem with one of my Dynalink v34+ modems so I took it
back and got it replaced, the next one just wouldn't download anything, it
uploaded ok and text seemed ok I could type for hours with friends and not
see any errors, so I took it back and got a third modem now I seem to have
a modem that just doesn't like being on line for very long, it has a habit
of disconnecting at the most inoportune moment. From what I have read in
various echos it seems that there is a bug in the ROM which was supplied by
US Robotics for the Dynalink V34+ modems, it is supposed to have something
to do with the data compression, but it doesn't seem to make any difference
wether I disable data compression or not. I have tried DOS, WIN3.11, and
OS/2. all with roughly similar results. As it now seems to be impossible
to get through to a live person at Askey to complain about the modems I am
going to have to keep pestering my supplier until he is able to get a
reasonable answer from Askey and supply me with a bug free modem.
I now wish I had kept my old 14400 modem as it seemed much more reliable
and not much slower when connected to the Internet.:(
