Way back when a LOT of GIs stationed in Japan and on Okinawa were
hopping SAC's shuttle flights to U-Tapao, Thailand.  Said flights just
'happened' to overfly the war zone and if you were on the manifest you
got the tax break.  I did exactly that in 1969.  Wasn't too much later 
that the commanding general of 5th AF ordered that the practice be 
halted.
