G'day Ray

Are you speaking from experience or just repeating what others have
said, If the former then how about some details on what computer/OS
etc you had problems with.

I've had 286's with 8250 UARTS handling sustained 115200 baud
throughput without problem, I've been told a decent XT will also
handle that speed.

     Pete.
