Changing that to "readkey 0x0061 exit" does a really weird thing
- it still doesn't exit, but at least now brings up the area-list, just
like the "areas" keyword did before.  Oh well, at least it's a
start.  :)

BTW, readkey 0x0061 is the lower case letter "a" (for
"area-list").
