Yep, except for the "right now" part.  My guess is that he has hated
life going at least back to his 18th birthday, when he was pushed into
enlisting even though he was still months away from his high school
graduation.  He lasted two months, and then went home because he was
"homesick," but not long after that he was living hundreds of miles from
"home."  He is a sad person, and given his dislike of females it isn't
hard to speculate why.
