Being on dialup I can sympathise to a degree. It's one of the reasons
I'm still using 98SE. Also those with pirated versions may not be able
to update.

Yes, and I believe it's not available at all for versions before XP ?

I have all sorts of security while online and am only online
when I'm actually sitting there at the screen so I've not really
had any problems but not everyone works it the same way I do and
those that have to be online 24/7 are a target for much longer and
so more likely to get hit eventually.
