On the JP> desktop, both running W2K, it is wall to wall. Both also set to 1024 x JP> 768. When you set it to full screen, it's displaying in VGA text mode, which is 720x400 pixels. On your desktop, Windows actually switches the card to that mode. But your laptop uses an LCD, which has a fixed resolution. (It's possible to use a lower resolution on an LCD, but then it becomes very fuzzy.) So instead of trying to stretch the 720x400 image to the 1024x768 screen, it just uses the innermost 720x400 pixels. (Sometimes extra spacing is added, especially between lines, so more than 720x400 may be used.) ...
