Rick, much has begun happening all at once--part of it due to your en-
couragement to us to seek a lawyer.
Backing up: I'd had an "inner prompt" about a lawyer, but since the attor-
ney said we could do nothing until the appeal was decided, had tabled my
"prompt". Then Kriseya asked if maybe we should get a lawyer. That's when
I wrote to _you_. At the same time, Chip, my husband, followed up Marty
Yant's advice to write to Jenny Wilcox, a prisoner (false charges of sex
abuse) in Ohio. Jenny overwhelmed us with compassion, leads, advice, full
disclosure of her story, etc. In big letters, she wrote, Get A Lawyer!
Jenny also called some people for us. One who called us, Dan Brailey,
heads up the "Ingram Organization." This was begun only to help Paul
Ingram--am receiving info about him, don't know anything, maybe you do--
but evolved into a group which helps others wrongly imprisoned. !!This
IS The Kind of Thing We've Tried To Find!!! Dan articulated the same
goal we have: to develop a central place to help the wronged. If that
were not exciting enough, Dan asked to see all our info on Kriseya. It's
on its way today.
Chip was _galvanized_--the only word for it--to take fresh action: put a
newsletter & action list together for our "attorney search." You will be
getting a copy of this: some time back, you wrote your address in a post,
and digging back I found it. I hope and trust that you won't mind, and
that, to the contrary, understand that we included you in our mailing
because of our respect and gratefulness to you.
Now, if you'll bear with me, some fresh questions:
Jenny Wilcox has, after 11 years in prison, been granted an evidentiary
hearing. This will be from Feb. 13 to 16 in Dayton, Ohio, in the Mont-
gomery Courthouse. The question: is there a way to get a brief story
about her "crossposted"? The reason is that she hopes her Ohio court
room might be packed with supporters. I'm thinking that it's possible
that this echo and related ones might reach Ohioans, and some might want
to support her if they know some of her story. I don't know how to cross-
post, and if it involves instructions beyond a 5-year old's ability, it
may take days for me to 1) fit in learning, 2) learn.
Learning of Jenny's first chance at freedom in years, we were powerfully
moved to help with her witness expenses fund (they're pro bono, but travel
& lodging is not). We've wanted to set up some sort of non-profit fund
to help prisoners (including the guilty--we've learned that no creature
of God must be "cancelled"). Is this a proper subject for some echo?
Finally, we also want to help inmate Herman Wallace, in solitary for more
than 20 years. He went to prison for a crime he admits--armed robbery.
When the riots of the 50's or 60's [my notes aren't handy]? erupted, a
guard was killed. Herman did not do it--was not involved, yet was wrongly
convicted. He also will have his first chance at freedom in years--a
hearing on April 9, 1996. Same question as above: do I write their stories
& publish them here or elsewhere...?
I wish I could help you with the case you've undertaken to help, but am
not connected that well yet. I'm just climbing out of the "beggar"
position in regard to contacts.
Thanks for any response for which you have time. Oh, did you get my
response to your input? I've been swamped with work, so maybe messages
are deleted by the time I check, but I didn't see the long writing on
Kriseya I did for you or a note I left for Valery Frosty. Yet.
Greatly appreciate you. Blessings from Clara...
