I was up again until midnight, finally finishing "Death in Bloodhound Red"
by Virginia Lanier. It had been recommended by a few friends (Betty and
Suzze, if I remember right).
It was a terrific story with great, fully developed characters and many
subplots to keep the story moving along at a fast pace. The heroine is the
trainer of bloodhounds, used for rescuing lost people in the swamps of
southern Georgia (kids, oldsters as well as escaped convicts). The two main
plots revolve around the attempted murder of her exhusband and the unraveling
of her father's peculiar will. Jo Beth is surrounded by many strange and
interesting friends who all combine to make wonderful cohorts in this story.
The sense of place is done exceptionally well..I honestly felt I was
traveling through the swamps with her. This might be a good story to read
when the snow starts to fly this winter .
Needless to say I'm now going to look for her next book, "The house in
bloodhound lane".
