Both 99 and 101 go from SD to Canada although both highways are now
segmented in places. As for the Pacific Highway name, it wasn't exclusive
to one specific highway, but the name was used all the way up from SD to
the Canadian border.

101 and 99 preceded I5 by several years.

We have the same signs up here along 101.

I've been on both 101 and Camino Real between San Diego and San Jose. A
very scenic drive. I-5, by contrast, is boring beyond toleration.
