| subject: | ATM trilateral mount: Supports DSO imaging? |

Would such a scope be able to be used as an astro-imaging platform if
supplemented by GOTO (or EQ platform)? Certainly planetary imaging should
work with short duration webcam/digicam exposures with stacking, but do you
think that is is rigid and stable enough for longer duration exposures, say
anywhere from 45 seconds to 5 minutes? I'm presently ruminating over a
suitcase dob design conversion for my 12.5" Discovery PDHQ and I want
to incorporate features that will enable DSO imaging with my ToUcam Pro and
Coolpix 4500. I've picked up ideas from a number of excellent designs so
far (i.e., Ellie, Greg Babcock, others too numerous), though I haven't
gotten that feeling of confidence about imaging stability, particularly
vibrations and oscillations.
Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

I finally have a website up detailing my new trilateral mount design.
It is at http://www.efn.org/~mbartels/tm/trilateral/trilateral.html
I've been working on it for year and a half and it features
folding mirror box
3 point flex rocker square
6 truss tubes
triangular upper end
triangular wire spider
9 point PLOP designed mirror mount with two point edge support
