I actually figured out how to get it to work properly, despite the
instructions on the site. It was like they sent me in the right general
direction, but I had to ignore a couple & figure it out myself. However,
when trying to re-set everything up, it suddently wasn't such an easy way
to find on my own. ;-)

I've not yet had to set up the root account after the reinstall. For
things that need root/su privaleges, it prompts for you to retype your own
(non-root) password. That didn't work the first time, which is why sudo
also would not work, and why I had to figure out how to set up the root
account with their hit-and-miss instructions. This time, it seems to work
the way they intended it. That is one good thing, I guess. ;-)
