I've made a few calls to the Multi-Tech MT2834ZDX with 2.09 firmware on
(08) 8232 4360 with the Motorola 3266 with 7.7 firmware running on
3:800/812 (08) 8370 2365 that I received as a replacement for the 3265 with
7.1 firmware originally purchased.

On one occasion, the V.34 handshaking repeatedly failed, requiring about 4
attempts for a successful connect. On another, it worked fine.

Considering that both Multi-Tech and Motorola were at the forefront of V.34
implementation and that both modems are running the latest currently
available firmware for the Australian market, I'm a bit disappointed that
the V.34 handshaking isn't trouble free.
