"Shadow of Death" by Sharan Newman is a medieval murder mystery featuring
Catherine LeVendeur.  The mystery begins in France in 1141.  Catherine
and her husband make a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
Other pilgrams on the journey are four elderly crusaders whose sinning
may not be entirely in the past, an abbot and his entourage, a bishop,
Catherine's father and his brother and nephew, and other pilgrams with
secrets from their pasts.
 
This is the fourth of a mystery series.  The first three mysteries, in
order, are: "Death Comes As Epiphany", "The Devil's Door", and "The
Wandering Arm".  This series is interesting both as historical fiction
and as mysteries.
