Only in that if you put your cane next to the fuselage between the 
fuselage and the window seat, you don't have to crawl over the 
person sitting in the window seat to do this. I generally order a 
window seat for this reason. But it isn't absolutely necessary if 
you have a cooperative person occupying the window seat.
