irrationally believe there is someone who "listens" and sometimes
gives them what they pray for.  It is a certainly that millions of amputees
have prayed to be made whole again, and NOT ONE ever has been.

Why is that, duck?  Why can't you see that one of the following is true?

a)  god hates all amputees, without exception b)  there is no god

Surely if your corny, fairy-tale notion of "god" would think that
some cancer victims deserve to get what they pray for - cure for their
cancer - then at least *one* among the many millions of amputees throughout
history would have been found deserving.  SO this leaves only b)
