I don't think we should emphasize the "learning environment" aspect of
BASIC. Doing that implies that it's a kiddie's language which real men
don't use. Once they get that idea, people tend to move off to learn
something else - which is probably a whole lot *less* useful to them. In
reality, BASIC is a very practical language in which to write really
useful programs. I still use a lot of them that I wrote way back in the
early 1980s. Let's try to get people to realize how useful BASIC is *as
a programming language*, not just as a learning tool!
