The Magic Kingdom part of WDW is a smaller version of Disneyland.  Most of 
he
items at MK start out at Disneyland (with a few exceptions).  Peoplemover was
one of the original rides.... all of the original rides that were still at
Disneyland were duplicated at MK at the time of its opening in 1970-71.  Then
both parks separately developed a few rides... that eventually moved to the
opposite park from where it was developed.
For those who may be confused... I will give an outline of official
abbreviations used by Disney Imagineering (the people who handle the 
echnical
and construction end of the Disney Empire):
WED-IG = Walter Elias Disney - Imagineering Group  (Imagineering)
DL     = Disneyland
WDW    = Walt Disney World (Disneyworld) the entire facility in Florida
MK     = Magic Kingdom - Disneyland like facility in Florida
EPCOT  = Environmental Prototype Community Of Tommorow in Florida
MGM-Disney = Metro Goldwin Mayer/Disney co-operated studios and theme park in
             Florida
T-DL   = Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo, Japan
ED     = EuroDisneyland, Paris, France
WESTCOT= New theme park in Anaheim, California... in pre-construction
BV     = Buena Vista Productions... Family Film Unit of Disney
WDP    = Walt Disney Pictures...    Historical Film Unit of Disney
TS     = Touchstone Pictures...     Adult/Family film unit (PG/PG13/R)
HP     = Hollywood Pictures...      Adult film unit (mostly R)
MX     = Miramax Pictures...        Adult film unit (R/NC17)
That should be enough to get most of you started.
